• ‘Be more about love, less about hate’: Gatherers show support for Ukraine at Sundance Square

A Russian born Fort Worth resident and her daughters were among those who gathered for the “Stop Putin, Save Ukraine” rally on March 4th, which included musical performances by Ukrainian singers. The gathering was the first of several that are planned in order to show support and raise funds for embattled Ukraine.- Fort Worth Report

• State Farm Neighborhood Assist program to offer $25K grants for nonprofits

Insurance giant State Farm has announced a program to provide 100 non-profits with $25,000 each in grant funding to mark the company’s 100th anniversary. The funds will go towards neighborhood improvement projects and the grantees will be selected from among the first 4000 applicants. - Community Impact

• ‘Boom!’ As gas drilling expands in Tarrant County, east Fort Worth residents say they’re paying the price

A natural gas drilling site in the Stop Six neighborhood of east Fort Worth is causing major disturbances and air quality dangers for residents. Though the company who owns the fracking site insists that no-one has been harmed, mechanical difficulties resulted in toxic smoke that resulted in at least one nearby resident needing medical attention. - Fort Worth Report

• How a Fort Worth Nonprofit is Helping Police Deal with Mental Health Calls

Non profit mental health agency Alliance Child and Family Services is partnering with the Arlington Police Dept. to reduce the frequency of repeat law enforcement calls, and subsequent risk of violent confrontation by providing counseling and other mental health services, as well as food and housing, to those whose mental health challenges might otherwise lead to escalation. - fwtx.com

Ronald McDonald House: Fort Worth - The Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth offers a supportive, home-like community that eases burdens for seriously ill children and their families. Our vision is to reach all families in need of our services. Our programs include the 57-bedroom the Ronald McDonald House on 8th Avenue, the Ronald McDonald Family Room inside Cook Children's Medical Center, the Day Program and hospitality carts located inside Baylor Scott & White All Saints Medical Center and Cook Children's Medical Center.


Alliance Child and Family Solutions - Alliance Child & Family Solutions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission of providing life-changing counseling services to all Texans, with a high focus on access for underserved and vulnerable populations. Our experienced therapists and robust services assist nearly all ages, backgrounds, and issues, primarily revolving around trauma. ACFS provides all of these services regardless of income, insurance, or ability to pay.


Family Pathfinders of Tarrant County - Empowering individuals and families to find their path from poverty to self-sufficiency.


Fort Worth Hope Center - Fort Worth Hope Center fights hunger by distributing food twice a week to families who live in Tarrant County, and by getting people ready for new and better jobs by providing education, job certification, and dental health services.


Immunization Collaboration of Tarrant County - We are a collaboration of over 40 agencies and organizations, public and private, committed to providing the systematic eradication of childhood, adolescent, and adult vaccine-preventable diseases in Tarrant County. Today we provide low cost vaccines to over 7,000 children, teens, and adults annually and community awareness, outreach, and education on the importance of immunizations to more than 20,000 people every year.

Hope Center 4 Autism - Fort Worth -  At the Hope Center for Autism our mission is to enable individuals on the autism spectrum and their families to live more fully functional lives.


United Fort Worth - A multiracial grassroots community org that actively works to challenge discriminatory policy & systems of oppression while empowering Black, Latinx & other historically marginalized communities to join the fight for justice through collective action


Community Frontline - Community Frontline’s mission is to mobilize men to enter into and alleviate the suffering in their communities, starting with neighborhoods in East Fort Worth. We focus on four pillars: (1) racial justice and solidarity, (2) police/community relations and accountability, (3) mentoring and education, and (4) community beautification and development.


Sittos - The vision of Sittos is to help people locally who are in need and help them to get back up again. we work with local communities in the US by providing food safety education for children; supporting families; partnering with schools; empowering military members; and more! We also provide food, clothes, shelter to those who are in need. Hope is never lost SITTOS is here to help.


The Junior League of Fort Worth - The Junior League of Fort Worth, Inc. is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.


Unity Unlimited - Unity Unlimited, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose main mission is providing educational activities and resources to people, young and old, to foster unity and harmony within the community, the city, the state, the nation and the world regardless of race, culture or denomination.

Presented by Women In Power Empowering, this event will be split into two parts. “Providing Healing” led by a panel of Black women frontline workers, and “Promoting Hope” featuring guest speaker, Dr. Karen Duncan, the newly appointed CEO of JPS Health; the first woman, and first Black person appointed to this role.

Hosted by the UTA College of Science, Dr. Mary Gray will lead a talk titled “Statistics and Human Rights”. A statistician and lawyer, Dr. Gray’s field of work is focused on the application of statistics in matters of human rights, education, economic equity, and legal issues.
