One Dead After Shooting on Link Light Rail Train in Downtown Seattle

SEATTLE — One man died after a shooting aboard a Link light rail train in downtown Seattle on Sunday night. 

Police responded to the University Street station after receiving a report that a 26-year-old man had been shot aboard the train between the Pioneer Square and University Street stations. 

When police arrived at the station, they found a man with injuries. Police attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The suspect fled the scene shortly after the shooting and has not been identified. 

The station was closed between 11:30 p.m. Sunday night and 5:40 a.m. Monday morning due to the investigation.  

Homicide detectives are now investigating and working to determine what led up to the shooting.
