MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (KFOR) – Rose State College’s Dental Hygiene Program is offering the community discounted preventative dental services at the on-campus dental clinic throughout its Spring and Fall semesters.

“Providing dental services to the community ensures our students gain invaluable patient care experience and essential training to successfully complete their education, excel in their clinical board exams and secure licensure for professional practice,” Rose State Director of Dental Hygiene/Dental Assisting, Esmeralda Ornelas, said. “Our commitment to offering these services at a reduced rate not only makes dental care more accessible for patients but also enables students to enhance their skills under the guidance of licensed professionals.”

Every patient is required to undergo a pre-screening prior to receiving dental cleaning, and the cost for this service is $10. The screening appointment will determine the necessary dental procedures, and upon completion, a Rose State student will contact the patient to schedule their cleaning.

The cleaning fees are $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 0 through 12 and free for all Rose State students, faculty and staff. Payments must be paid in cash or check, as credit/debit cards are not accepted.

Services currently provided at the Dental Hygiene Clinic include teeth cleaning, dental X-rays, fluoride treatment, pit and fissure sealants, oral cancer screening and preventative education. The clinic aims to serve 250-300 patients per semester.

It’s important to note that dental clinics at Rose State do not offer restorative care, such as fillings and root canals. Patients in need of restorative care will be referred to a list of Rose State providers.
